The centerpieces from the Pilchuck Glass School auction this year cool, I thought.  Big, colorful, deformed bowl with blobby clear bits as feet and texture.  This shot is from the inside and with no viewfinder.  (It is sitting on a piece of black granite which is what’s going on on the right side of the image.)

If you’ve been following along, you may remember that I saw some great graffiti in an art school bathroom.  Yesterday I was back on campus (in the rain) for their holiday art fair.  And after all that cider and coffee …  I had occasion to re-visit the bathroom.  I believe this is what you would call a derivative work.

On the plaza near the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas.  A whole bunch of trees similarly decorated.  Tree Warmers?  Branch Socks?

Amazing artist.  Teacher.  Nice guy.

Did the best I could here with an iPhone held out through the rail on the balcony over the furnaces.  Super jealous of the video team that was down on the floor up close.  And you can watch a replay.  (That’s part one of 3 for 14 October.  He was there all week.)  And note that you can see a live stream when people are blowing here.)

And then they’re done.  Just knock it off the pipe and have they guy in the space suit catch it.  Off to the annealer.

Take a breath and then start on the next one.

Just saw Hotel Transylvania, but don’t believe Frankenstein.  In this case, “fire good.”  Just remember to stand back a little from the flames.

A few days ago I showed a couple of shots outside at Chihuly Garden and Glass.  Remember the tall, thin glass objects in the flower beds?  They’re making one here.  They are big.  So big that they use a scissor lift jacked all the way up to the ceiling to give enough room to stretch out the tube.  Gravity (and a very hot torch) is your friend.  At the Chihuly Boathouse.
