This coconut octopus walked across the bottom and then found this can in which to hole up. One of the divers saw some (other) trash on the bottom and put it within tentacles’ reach. A few pieces of rock and a piece of glass. The octopus grabbed them and began using the glass fragment as a shield.

And I can guess what you’re thinking — hey, the first octopus stole part of the second one’s house.
But no. Different dive. Different site. Just similar trash in the muck.

Since somewhere along the way the metadata is getting stripped, here’s “hand made EXIF.” All of these shots are with Olympus OM-D EM-5 with the 12-50mm lens in macro mode (at 43mm) in a Nauticam housing. One Sea & Sea YS-100alpha strobe.
